Athletic Department photographic negative collection

Scope and Contents The Athletic Negative collection is composed of negatives of Michigan State Normal College athletic teams as well as images from the Physical Education department who was responsible for organizing women's athletics on campus and tightly integrated with the Athletic department in the 1950s when these images were taken. Abstract The Athletics collection dates from the years 1890-2014, with a gap between 1980-2000 in the men's and women's articles and statistics. The collection includes administrative files, such as correspondence, minutes, agendas, and reports. Also included are athletic handbooks, photos, media guides, sports programs, clippings, ticket stubs, pamphlets, rosters, schedules and flyers. Abstract The Bob Parks scrapbook collection contains the photographs and clipping scrapbooks of both the Track and Field and Cross Country teams that Parks coached from 1967-2000 as well as when Parks was a team member during from 1949-1952. Abstract James J. Balten, Sr. born September 13, 1915 and graduated from Akron New York High School. During his time at the Normal College he was a member of the Phi Delta Pi fraternity and the Physical Education Club, held the position of lineman on the football team where he lettered in the fall of 1936, '37 and '38 and threw shotput for the Track and Field team (1938, '39).
